Comments: Pelargonium citrosum or Mosquito Plant or Citronella
Plant or Deodorizer Plant or Citrosa Geranium is a very fragrant perennial.
It produces fragrant violet-lavender blossoms. The
citronella-scented foliage are very attractive and they repel
mosquitoes. I normally crush some
leaves and rub onto my skin to keep the mosquitoes at bay. Before you do that, please test for
allergic reaction. The dried leaves of Pelargonium citrosum make a nice potporri for my
room and car. Keep several pots of Mosquito plants around to keep
mosquitoes at bay. Deodorizer Plant is very easy to grow
from cuttings. It performs well in the sunny to part shade perennial bed
or border. Pelargonium citrosum can also be cultivated in
containers for the porch or deck or placed near the door entrances.
It tolerates drought well when established. I fertilize my
Pelargonium citrosum with diluted fish emulsion occasionally during
growing season for optimal growth Trim Citronella Plant to maintain shape
and size. Protect Deodorizer Plant from frost.
