Indigofera decora or Chinese Indigo or Indigofera incarnata is a hardy perennial shrub that spreads by underground suckers.  These suckers can be easily moved and propagated. The beautful oramental-looking flowers of Chinese Indigo are fragrant and long-lasting.  Indigofera incarnata is a very useful plant and is easily propagated by seeds, cuttings or suckers.  It is a nitrogen fixing plant. The seeds of Chinese Indigo are edible when dried are ground and used for baking. The young leafy shoots have been used as a traditional medicine for the treatment of various ailments like cough, poisoning or bleeding Indigofera decora looks attractive as a specimen or understory plant in the landscape.
