Comments:
Echinacea purpurea 'Double Delight' or Double Purple Coneflower or  Eastern Purple Coneflower or  Purple Coneflower is an upright, self-sowing hardy perennial.  From mid-Summer till frost, it produces spectacular pink flowers on shorter stems that supports the heavy flowerhead well.   Echinacea purpurea 'Double Delight' is easy to grow.  The petals hang down its sides, showing off its big rounded brown head.  Grown in masses, Double Purple Coneflower really add beauty and color to the sunny border or in a cottage garden. It can be container cultivated to add color to the patio or deck.  The butterflies loves the Eastern Purple Coneflower blooms and the Goldfinches and songbirds enjoy feasting on the seeds.  Echinacea purpurea 'Double Delight' is deer resistant and is drought tolerant.  Purple Coneflower is  popular used as a traditional medicine by the North American Indans and it is now commonly  used as an immune booster to defend your body against minor infections and initial signs of minor respiratory disease, flus and colds.  Interestingly, Echino is the Greek word for 'spiny', describing the flower disk head as such.
