Sedum rubrotinctum or Brown Beans or Christmas Cheer or Pork and
Beans or Sedum Jelly Bean is an unique looking
tropical perennial succulent with a low cascading growth
habit. In late Winter or early Spring, small pale yellow blossoms
appear. Sedum rubrotinctum is easily propagated from woody stem
cuttings. It performs best in well-drained rich, mildly alkaline
soil in
a part shade to full sun
locatrion.
Brown Beans appears
redder if exposed to more sun. It is hardy to 25 degrees
Fahrenheit; provide protection from freezing temperature.
Mass plant Christmas Cheer for a
delightful looking
groundcover
or plant
some in a hanging basket or container to accent the patio.
Allow the stems to cascade freely down the sides of it for a spectacular
visual effect. Christmar Cheer adds drama to
the rock garden or on slopes,
very soon its spread will form a nice carpet. It
is
drought tolerant and low maintenance. It is excellent for xeriscaping.
Once planted, this Mexican beauty literally is carefree. In the absence of
blossoms, the exotic looking pellet-shaped succulent leaves makes
