Comments: Clerodendrum
thomsoniae or Bleeding Heart Vine or
Glory Bower or
Clerodendron thomsonae or Clerodendron thomsoniae is a beautiful fast
growing
evergreen
climber with a suckering growth habit. In late Spring or
early Summer, Clerodendrum thomsoniae
bear
gorgeous clusters of red blooms in white bracts which attract
bees,
hummingbird and butterflies.
Bleeding Heart Vine
is self-sowing; it is easily propagated from seeds, stem cuttings
or from suckers.
Clerodendron thomsoniae
thrives well in the sunny to part shade garden.
Plant Glory Bower
in well-drained, sandy acidic soil. Clerodendron thomsonae is
carefree and will rapidly adorn a wall or arbor or trellis with its
exotic display of exotic blossoms. Bleeding Heart Vine also
make a spectacular living fence.
In colder areas,
Glory Bower will die back to the ground and return with
newer growth next season. I adore the unique blossoms of
Clerodendrum
thomsoniae.
