Vacation in Maggie Valley, NC

 

7/7/07  Left Dave’s mom’s house in Mountaintop, PA for Richmond, VA.  Checked in at the Hampton Inn   Attended the ½ miles Motorcycle Race in the evening.

 

7/8  Left for Maggie Valley.  Reached here about 4.30pm  House is located on Parker Rd, overlooking the mountain   Had an enjoyable dinner at Family Restaurant.

 

7/9  Went for ride with Dave on his triumph to Blue Ridge PKWY.  It was an awesome sight from the top of the mountains.

 

7/12  We took a train ride to Bryson City and visited the Museum of the Trains.  There were  so many interesting exhibits of antique train models

 

7/14  Attended an excellent performance of Raymond Fairchild and the band.  Fairchild is a renowned banjo player from NC.

 

7/15  More bike trip.

 

7/22  Went on a bike ride to the Museum of the Cherokee Indian in Cherokee, NC and saw many interesting Cherokee Indian exhibits, their history and survival.

 

7/24  Took car ride to Joyce Kilmer Memorial Forest due to cloudy weather.  Had a good 4 mile walk through the forest.  Saw some giant size Tulip Poplar trees and some interesting wild plants and took some pics

 

7/25  Cloudy day, went on a car trip to Hot Springs, NC.

 

7/26  Went on a bike trip via HWY 205 to Russian Town

 

7/27  Attended International Folkmoot in Waynesville.  Enjoyed Greek seafood and watched dancers from Crotia and Mexico performed.

 

7/28  Attended at Folk Music performed by 2 excellent  live bands at the Maggie Valley Entertainment Center

 

8/1  Towed bike to Robynsville.  Dave then unload bike and went to conquer the Dragon’s Tail himself – a total of 616 miles, to and fro.  I chickened out and just hung around the shops till he returns. 

 

8/2 - Raining
