an attractive herbaceous perennial with a mounding growth habit.
From April to May, showy blue blossoms appear on slender stems above the
large basal heartshaped blackish-green foliage. The bees are very much
attracted to the nectar rich blossoms of
Brunnera macrophylla.
Largeleaf Brunnera
self sows readily and is easily propagated from clump divisions.
Heartleaf Brunnera
is resistant to rabbits and deers. It is low maintenance and naturalize
easily in a cottage-like setting. Mass plant this gorgeous
rhizomatous plant as groundcovers, as edging or as bedding or border
plants.
Siberian Bugloss look spectacular as a specimen plant and would
thrive nicely around ponds or water fountains. It
is a great plant for beginner gardeners. Interestingly, the name Bugloss
means 'Ox tongue' in Greek.
