is a dwarf
tropical perennial with an upright growth habit. From Winter till
Summer, 3 different
colors of attractive tubular flowers appear profusely all on the same branch; the continuous
fragrant blossoms last about a month and they initially appear a rich
purple with white throat and ages to lavender and finally to white in a
matter of 2 to 3 days. The showy flowers of
Brunfelsia calycina
attract a lot of attention
from passerbys.
Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow is easily propagated from seeds or
from semi-hardwood stem cuttings.
Brunfelsia exima
is an attention getter. It is an excellent choice as a
specimen plant for the landscape.
Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow
can tolerate temperatures of 30-32 degrees Fahrenheit.
In colder areas, it will die back to the ground and returns the
following season with renewed growth.
Brunfelsia pauciflora thrives well
in the sunny to part shade garden. Grow it in well-drained
acidic soil and give it abundant water.
Brunfelsia calycina
is also the perfect
container plant for indoor decoration or patio or deck. Trim
plant as needed for a rounded shape and promote more blooms.
