In Summer, the nectar-rich lily-like flowers attract bees, butterflies and hummingbirds. Citron Daylily blooms in the evening and the flowers close the next morning. Deephead to promote abundant blooms. Mass plant for a lovely display and delightful fragrance along pathways or near an entrance so you would not miss their lovley fragrance at bloom time. Long Yellow Daylily also help to keep weeds at bay. Divide clump every few years if overcrowded. Mulch Hemerocallis thunbergii plants to retain moisture. Trim off dead stalks after flowering or remove dried leaves at base of plants to maintain a healthy growth. Hemerocallis vespertina is an excellent beginner's plant as it is low maintenance.
