Family:  Apiaceae
Origin:  Asia and Australia
Light:  Sun-part shade

Blooms:  Fragrant flat-top tiny white blooms in mid July-August
Foliage: Green, brittle
Soil:  Sandy soil

Water:  Very high moisture needs
Fertilizer: Water soluble, weekly
Propagation:  Division.  Plant in  6" of water over the top of soil.
Uses:  Container, small ponds, water garden
Comments:  Oenenthe javanica or Oenenthe stolonifera or Water Celery or Water Parsley or Water Dropwort, or Seri or Sui-kan or Java Waterdropwort or Pak Chi or Pak An or Water Dropwort or Lawm or Shelum or Damoe is an easy to grow bio-filter perennial herb with creeping stolons and long threadlike rootlets.  In Summer, fragrant small flat-topped white blossoms appear.  This aquatic plant spreads fast and can be easily controlled.  Kois fishes love to feast on the Water Celery leaves.  Replenish Oenenthe stolonifera when needed with new plants.  Oenenthe javanica can be easily propagated from divisions.  Water Parsley thrives well in part shade bog garden or small ponds.  Water Dropwort can also be container grown; provide abundant moisture.  Oenenthe javanica leaves are edible and commonly used in Oriental cooking.
